 The MRCP (Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians) and Parallel Pathway Conferment Ceremony is a prestigious event jointly organized by the Royal Colleges of Physicians and the College of Physicians Malaysia. This momentous occasion celebrates and honors internal medicine specialists who have successfully achieved their MRCP qualification or completed the Parallel Pathway, recognizing their dedication and excellence in the field of internal medicine.
 

This ceremony is open to all those who have previously passed and completed the MRCPUK or MRCPI qualification and would love the opportunity to be personally presented the honourable scroll by the Overseas Presidents of the Royal Colleges, in the presence of their loved ones.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE (SOP) MRCP CONFERRING CEREMONY

1. Introduction

The College of Physicians Malaysia (CoPM) has established this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure a smooth, respectful, and memorable MRCP Conferring Ceremony. All Graduates and Guests are required to comply with the protocol outlined below. 

2. General Guidelines

  •  Graduates must arrive at the venue by 8:00 AM for registration, robe collection, and preparation.
  • Graduates must be seated in the main hall by 9:30 AM for a briefing on the conduct required when receiving the scroll.
  • The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 AM. Latecomers (Graduates and Guests) may be denied entry into the main hall once proceedings commence.
  • Only pre-registered guests with valid entry passes will be allowed entry.
  • Children under 12 years of age are not permitted inside the main hall.
  • All mobile devices must be switched to silent mode throughout the event.
  • Please be reminded that Graduates and Guests are not allowed to leave the hall while the ceremony is on.
  • Kindly note that food is strictly prohibited inside the Hall. Graduates and Guests are strongly advised to have their breakfast prior to entering the Hall.
  • CoPM reserves the right to remove any individual whose behaviour disrupts the dignity or flow of the ceremony.

3. Registration & Attire

Registration Desk:

  • Located at the entrance of the Medical Academies Malaysia. Graduates must check in upon arrival.

Attire:

  • All Graduates must wear the official academic regalia (gown) provided by CoPM. Formal or professional attire (e.g., lounge suit, baju kurung, or equivalent) must be worn beneath the robe.
  • Dark-coloured shoes to harmonise with the academic dress.
  • All Guests are also expected to wear formal or professional attire.
  • For ladies, skirts must be below the knees.
  • Strictly no yellow or purple color attire is allowed to be worn in the main hall.
  • Academic regalia must be returned at the designated counter after the ceremony. Late returns may incur penalty fees.

4. Ceremony Proceedings

Seating Arrangement:

  • Graduates will be seated according to name order.
  • Guests are to be seated in the designated guest area.

Procession & Awarding of Certificates:

  • The ceremony begins with a formal procession, followed by speeches and the conferring of awards.
  • Graduates will be called individually to receive their scrolls on stage.
  • Graduates must follow stage instructions and etiquette as directed by the marshals.

Photography

  • Official photographers will be present to capture key moments throughout the ceremony.
  • Personal photography is permitted only after the ceremony has concluded.
  • Guests may take shots with their cameras or video cameras from their seats only

5. Refund Policy

  • Once payment has been made and the confirmation email has been sent, no refund will be issued for withdrawal requests.
  • In special circumstances, we may consider holding the payment for a replacement by another individual or for a future event. However, refunds are not allowed under any circumstances.

6. Updates & Communication

  • Graduates are advised to check their email and the official CoPM website regularly for updates.
  • Any urgent changes will be communicated via email.
